Qualifications for a Medical Marijuana Card in NY:

Qualifying Conditions​:

Any condition the provider deems appropriate is a qualifying condition to get a marijuana card in New York. The list below are some examples of conditions that have been used in the past to qualify for medical cannabis:

  • Chronic Pain (Arthritis, Migraine, Fibromyalgia, Back Pain, Neck Pain, Severe Dysmenorrhea, Endometriosis, Uterine Fibroids, etc) 

  • Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, Panic Attacks, PTSD, etc

  • I.B.D. Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease, I.B.S. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Abdominal pain, gas, bloating, cramps, etc)

  • Nausea, Vomiting, loss of appetite, Cachexia/Wasting Syndrome

  • Opioid Use Disorder/Substance Use Disorder

  • Neuropathy, Radiculopathy, sciatica, pinched nerve, numbness, tingling, burning, neuropathic pain

  • Epilepsy, Seizure Disorder

  • Cancer

  • HIV infection or AIDS

  • Severe or Persistent Muscle Spasms

  • A.L.S. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (A.K.A. Lou Gehrig’s Disease)

  • Parkinson’s Disease

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Huntington’s Disease

  • Alzheimer's

  • Muscular dystrophy

  • Dystonia

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Autism

  • Spinal cord injury with spasticity

  • Any other condition, at the discretion of your health care provider

Proof of Identification & Residency:

You’ll need to provide one of the following items to show proof of residency:

  • New York State Driver’s License or New York State Non-Driver ID Card.

  • Copy of a government-issued identification card that contains your name and New York State address.

Once you receive your certification from us, you will be able to register online for a medical marijuana card with the Department of Health. This card must be shown when buying medical marijuana at a dispensing facility and carried by the eligible patient. ​​​
